QUESTIONS ON FUNCTIONAL BLOCK DIAGRAM (FBD) LOGICS

PROGRAMME EXAMPLES ON AND/OR OPERAND:-

Assignment on Functional Block Diagram 1:

When switch S1 is made ON an output lamp L1 will be ON.

Assignment on Functional Block Diagram 2:

When switches S1 & S2 & S3 & S4 are made ON an output lamp L1 and buzzer B1 will be ON.

Assignment on Functional Block Diagram 3:

When switch S1 or S2 or S3 or S4 or S5 or S6 or S7 is made ON an output lamp L1 should be ON.

Assignment on Functional Block Diagram 4:

Develop an FBD program for the logic such that, it will cause an output D to go true when switch A and switch B are closed or when switch C is closed.

Assignment on Functional Block Diagram 5:

When a toggle switch S is made ON, it will make bulb B1 ON & bulb B2 OFF, which is previously ON. When the same toggle switch is made OFF, bulb B1 will be OFF & B2 will remain in ON condition. Develop the logic in FBD language.

When switch (S1 & S2 & S3) OR (S1 & S2) OR (S2 & S3) will be ON, then output lamp L1 will be ON. Write a program in FBD language to satisfy the logic.

Assignment on Functional Block Diagram 7:

Convert the following lad to its equivalent FBD program.

PLC QUESTIONS ON FUNCTIONAL BLOCK DIAGRAM

Assignment on Functional Block Diagram 8:

Develop an FBD Program that will cause output D to be on when the toggle switches A is on, or either B or C is on. When both B and C

are ON and A is OFF the output D should be OFF.

Assignment on Functional Block Diagram 9:

Develop an FBD program for the logic such that,

In a four stair building, there is a bulb in the center position of the corridor of the building. Any person from any stair can make that bulb ON and OFF by the use of 4 switches placed at the individual stairs of the building.

Assignment on Functional Block Diagram 10:

In a modern automatic office building, when both the doors are closed or both are opened, then a bulb will be ON. When any one of the doors will be opened, then the output will be OFF.

Developed the required logic in FBD language.

PROGRAMME EXAMPLES ON LATCHING(FBD):-

Develop a program in FBD language such that, when the push button (PB1) is pressed and released a buzzer gets On and remains in  ON condition till a stop push button  (PB2) is pressed and released to OFF the buzzer.

Assignment on Functional Block Diagram 12:

Develop a program in FBD language such that, when the push button (PB1) is pressed, a 3-phase induction motor and a heater are ON simultaneously and these two are remaining in ON condition even if the PB1 is released.

The heater can be stopped separately by a stop push button (PB2) but when an emergency stop push button (PB3) is pressed then both motor and heater are stopped.

PROGRAMME EXAMPLES ON MOVE AND COMPARATOR:-

Assignment on Move and Comparator 1:

When input byte 1 compares a value greater than 130 , it will make an indicator light ON, but that input byte will be controlled by another digital input (ex: I0.0 ). Develop the required logic in FBD language.

When input signal is equal to 2050, it will make a buzzer ON. For other values than 2050, the output is OFF.

PROGRAMME EXAMPLES ON TIMER:-

Develop a ladder logic for a FLASHER (10-second duration) such that

When Switch (I0.0) is turned ON

The FLASHER should glow for the first 10 seconds duration immediately.

The FLASHER should not glow for the next 10 seconds duration.

The FLASHER then continues till the Switch (I0.0) is turned OFF.

Assignment on Move and Comparator 2:

In an office building in the evening when all the lights and fans of  3 rooms ( each room containing one lamp and one fan) are turned OFF,  an exit door light is to remain ON for 5 minutes and the parking lot light is to remain ON for an additional 5 minute after the exit door light goes out. When the lamp and fan get ON nothing happens to the door exit light and car parking lot light. Write the program in FBD language to satisfy the logic.

Assignment on Move and Comparator 3:

In an ATM counter, when the main switch is ON and sensor 1 (High Temp. sensor) senses high temp. , then AC1 will be ON for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes AC1 will be OFF & AC2 will be ON for 10 minutes & then goes OFF. The same process will be going on until sensor 2 (Low temp. sensor) senses low temp.

If between the main switch is made OFF, then both AC1 & AC2   will be OFF. Write the program in FBD language.
